Requirements
This Global Award call is for those exclusively nominated by their country team. You will be required to provide this information in your application and these will be verified.
The requirements for the Scaleup and SME categories are as follows:
Scaleups
- Be legally incorporated in your country
- Annual revenues over $300,000; or
- More than 25 full-time employees
SMEs
- Legally incorporated in the relevant local country for a minimum of 3 years
- Annual revenues over €250,000 and up to €50,000,000
- At least 10 and up to 250 full-time employees
- No more than 25% of capital held by a large corporation or group
General information
The Santander X Global Award 2026 rewards the most innovative university projects, startups, scaleups and SMEs from 8 countries across Latin America and Europe.
Countries that did not host a Scaleup or SME Local Award competition are invited to nominate companies from their ecosystem to participate in the Global Award. Please make sure to add the details of your nominating Santander X local team in the application.
Nominated companies will be assessed and invited to participate in the Global Awards Semi-Final Pitch Day in January 2026. Successful companies will progress to the Final Pitch day in February 2026, where they will compete for a share of the €195,000 cash prize.
Reward
The prizes are as follows:
- Scaleup : € 22,000
- SME : € 23,000
- Membership in Santander X 100
- Invitation to Awards Ceremony at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, 2- 4 March 2026
