Requirements
· Teesside University student*, member of staff or graduate (within 2 years)
· Must have a registered UK business (Sole Trader, Ltd or CIC)
· Must have been trading from 1st January 2025
· Must have a business bank account
· If selected as a finalist, must be willing to pitch in-person on Weds 10th June
*If you are on a student visa you are not eligible to start a business, so we are unable to accept applications.
General information
Teesside University has joined the Santander Universities Programme, unlocking two years of funding opportunities to support student education, entrepreneurship and employability.
Student and graduate entrepreneurs will benefit from access to funding through Santander X, with three awards of £5,000 available to support the launch, growth and scaling of their new businesses.
This funding will be allocated via a pitching competition for start-up businesses (up to 18 months of trading) from the student, graduate and staff bodies.
The competition will open on 1st April 2026 and will culminate in a pitching event where six finalists will do a ‘pitch-off’ to an audience at an event on Wednesday 10th June.
The deadline for entries is Friday 29th May 2026.
