Requirements
Who are we looking for?
1. To enter you must be a student* or graduate** from a Santander Universities UK partner university.
*This includes all levels of study, up to and including PhD.
**You must have graduated within three years of the application submission date (2017 onwards). Terms and Conditions will apply.
2. Your business must have been trading for no more than 18 months
We define trading as:
• Having already received funding or investment of up to £250,000***
***This includes any funding from Santander Universities, the University you are studying at/graduated from, grant funding from organisations such as Innovate UK, competition winnings that are connected to the development of your business, investments, and funds raised through crowd sourcing platforms etc.
You must also meet one or more of the following criteria:
• Have already made sales
• Be promoting/advertising your business publicly (e.g. public facing website) with the specific aim of attracting sales/users or investment in the next 6-12 months
• Gained users e.g. through app downloads
3. You must also be able to attend all dates of the programme (see programme details below)
General information
2020 marks the 10th anniversary of the Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Awards. To celebrate, this year we will be running the Santander Universities Emerging Entrepreneurs Programme, a programme of dedicated support for student and graduate start-ups across our partner universities.
The aim of the programme is to support you on your business journey providing you with the information and networks to grow and scale your business.
The programme will run from May – October 2020 and will feature a Virtual Launch Event, exclusive Online Content, and an Accelerator. The programme will culminate with a National Final in September where you will have a chance to win a share of £90,000.

Sporting Edge Performance Zone®
28th May to 1st October
We’ve partnered with Sporting Edge, to provide you with exclusive, on-demand access to their online Performance Zone library. Their inspiring content will take you Inside the Mind of Champions® to explore powerful stories and insights from the world’s smartest thinkers and elite performers, in which you’ll discover game changing solutions to your biggest business challenges.
Accelerator
7th-9th July (inclusive), Edinburgh
During the accelerator you will participate in a series of workshops and master classes led by a number of innovative businesses and speakers aimed at helping you understand how to scale and develop your business.
What’s more, to help prepare you for the final in September we’ll also be running a pitch training session.
National Final
28th and 29th September, London
The programme will culminate with a two day national final which will take place in September at Wembley Stadium in London.
All businesses entered in the programme will pitch in a bid to be crowned the 2020 winner.
Full details of the pitch requirements will be released in the coming months.

Reward
The winning business will receive:
- £30,000 of equity-free seed funding
- Mentoring from business experts
- A fully funded intern for up to 8 weeks
The runner up will receive:
- £20,000 of equity-free seed funding
- Mentoring from business experts
- A fully funded intern for up to 8 weeks
There will also be a number of additional prizes available at the final and throughout the programme.
