  • Requirements

    The Santander X Global Award is designed for University Startups; this means that it is required to have an official link to a university-affiliated with Santander Universities. Please make sure your project meets at least one of the following requirements:

    • A co-founder is a student or a university graduate from the past 5 years.
    • A co-founder is actively collaborating at a university (professor or researcher).
    • The team is developing the project at a university (research center or incubator).
    • The project has participated in an initiative published in the Santander X Platform.


    The University Startup Category is made for early-stage projects on the development of a new high-impact venture. Please make sure your project meets the following requirements:

    • Tested functional prototype.
    • Validated business model.
    • Annual revenue bellow USD 50,000.
    • At least 1 co-founder is a fluent or native English speaker

    If you're a University Startup, that means that you're working hard to turn your dream into a reality and we want to encourage that. Now is the time to give your startup a chance and launch it in a world-class stage.


    At our University Startup Category, you will find a perfect place to present in front of investors, get international exposure, be mentored by professional leaders, and direct your business in the best way possible. 


    Applying is easy, but the selection process is extremely competitive. Each team will have to upload a video-pitch to the Santander X platform for it to be evaluated by 3 entrepreneurship experts. Only the best will be selected to participate at the Santander X Global Award. 


    The participating teams will receive personalized mentorship and coaching to prepare a pitch to a local jury of innovation & entrepreneurship experts who will provide essential feedback and select the finalists. Additionally, teams will get exposure through coverage of our media partners so people can support your cause worldwide even if you don't win the final prize.


    The top 11 Startups will be invited to pitch at the heart of MIT in front of 5 business icons and an audience full of investors, mentors, and other successful entrepreneurs.

The 11th finalists will be invited to pitch at the heart of MIT to a jury of business icons and an audience full of investors, mentors, and leaders in the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem. As finalist, you will be assigned an expert mentor who will help you prepare to perform your absolute best.
